The uvex brand is based on two established pillars: The products of the uvex sports group include helmets for winter sports, cycling and horse riding, skiing and sports goggles; as a partner of elite international sport, uvex equips over 1,000 top athletes across the world. Everything revolves around safety at work in the uvex safety group: They produce personal protective equipment from head to toe – from protective helmets to safety shoes.
Combining these two worlds into one brand is greater than the sum of its parts: Wherever you see the name uvex, you can be sure that you will enjoy the combined expertise and greatest possible experience from the fields of sport and workplace safety. uvex sports and uvex safety not only complement each other brilliantly in product development, but we also work hand in glove in many other areas too, including the Red Bull District Ride 2014 in Nuremberg or the DATEV Challenge Roth 2016. At major sporting events like these, uvex is not only on the track with helmets and goggles but also behind the scenes protecting the assembly team.
With 33 joints the human foot is a dynamic structure that is constantly changing shape and function throughout the walking cycle to provide a stable and efficient platform. uvex bionomx puts biomechanics at the heart of the design process to create footwear that harmonises the foot-upper-sole-ground interaction to optimise comfort and minimise fatigue. The uvex bionomx system has sole geometries that ensure a flowing transition from initial contact to toe off, and upper designs that expand and contract as the shape of the foot changes throughout the walking cycle. uvex bionomx harmonises the interaction of the footwear with the ground and the body so that it performs as one complete system.
uvex’s innovative new polyurethane sole technology—uvex i-PUREnrj—returns the impact energy over the entire sole unit back to the wearer and redefines energy absorption and return. This makes every day full of energy, with noticeably greater comfort and significantly lower fatigue in the feet:
Footwear design can be a major contributor to heat stress at work. uvex climazone is an innovative climate control system that has been developed to optimise breathability and internal airflow within the footwear to help keep workers cool. uvex scientific research and development processes ensures the climate-optimising uvex climazone range of safety footwear helps draw moisture away from the feet to create a pleasant and comfortable environment within the footwear.
uvex has been researching climate conditions for a long time. In collaboration with renowned institutes such as the Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e. V. (Test and Research Institute for Footwear Production), Kaiserslauten University of Applied Sciences and the Hohenstein Institutes, testing methods and devices are being developed that enable a comprehensive and solid measurement of climate characteristics for the first time. Hot or cold feet, as well as discomfort from heavy sweating, can be real problems – that's why perfect climate control is especially important for safety footwear.

Shop NowSafety footwear is the technical category name for ‘work boots’ or ‘steel caps’ as they are often referred to in Australia and New Zealand. In the Australian and European standards (EN ISO 20345:2011; AS2210.3 2019) safety footwear is required to incorporate a toe cap that provides protection against an impact of 200 joules and a compression of 15 kilonewtons. This corresponds approximately to a weight of 20 kilograms falling from a height of 1 meter and a compression weight of 1.5 tonnes.
The toe cap does not have to be made of steel as long as it meets the relevant performance criteria. The safety footwear standards also cover other aspects of protection against mechanical trauma, slips risks, environmental conditions, some hazardous environments and the overall construction and performance of the footwear.
uvex safety footwear that is ranged in Australia and New Zealand is certified to comply with the Australian Standard (AS 2210.3). These standards have been developed to provide a minimum standardised level of protection to workers in hazardous working environments.
uvex mission is ‘protecting people’ and to ensure that we deliver on our mission uvex has also defined the ‘uvex Standard Compliance’. The uvex Standard Compliance specifies over performance on the key safety relevant parameters within the international standards to ensure workers are always protected.
When it comes to workplace safety and all-day comfort, UVEX safety footwear stands in a league of its own. Engineered specifically for Australian and New Zealand workers, UVEX boots combine advanced biomechanical design with cutting-edge safety technology. From the jobsite to the warehouse, each pair is built to reduce fatigue, enhance comfort, and provide the ultimate protection against workplace hazards. UVEX safety footwear is manufactured in multiple widths for each length, ensuring a better and more comfortable fit for all workers, regardless of gender. Shop our UVEX ladies safety footwear range here.
All UVEX safety footwear is certified slip-resistant according to Australian and European standards. Depending on the model, they meet either SRA, SRB, or SRC ratings.
SRA: Slip resistant to soap on ceramic tiles.
SRB: Slip resistant to fat (glycerol) on steel.
SRC: Meets both SRA and SRB tests.
Always assess footwear performance under real working conditions.
The UVEX multiple fit system ensures many footwear styles are available in different widths for a custom fit. Check product descriptions for fit options and use our multiple fit guide or the UVEX size advisor app to select the right width.
The Australian Standard for safety footwear is AS 2210.3, requiring a minimum of 200 joules impact resistance and 15kN compression for toe caps.
Additional related standards include:After use, remove excess dirt and allow footwear to dry naturally. Avoid drying near heaters or direct heat sources. Treat leather uppers regularly to prevent drying and cracking. Avoid exposing leather footwear to cement, concrete, or lime, as it can damage the material. For these environments, gumboots are recommended for better durability and protection.
UVEX safety footwear is designed with advanced technologies like bionomX and i-PUREnrj to improve comfort and reduce fatigue. These technologies ensure optimal energy return, advanced cushioning, and foot support, helping you stay comfortable even during extended work hours.
UVEX i-PUREnrj is an innovative sole technology that returns impact energy across the entire sole unit back to the wearer. It provides up to 125% higher energy absorption and 60% more energy return than standard polyurethane soles, helping reduce foot fatigue and improve comfort throughout the workday.
UVEX bionomX focuses on biomechanical harmony between the foot, upper, sole, and ground. This system supports natural foot movement, reduces fatigue, and enhances comfort by creating a smooth transition during each step. The footwear adapts to the changing shape of the foot throughout the walking cycle for better support and reduced stress.
UVEX climazone is an advanced climate control system designed to improve breathability and internal airflow within the footwear. This helps manage moisture and heat, keeping your feet cooler and more comfortable, especially in hot or high-intensity work environments.
